Marshall Wood was born and raised in Bristol, Virginia. He attended Emory & Henry College and the University of Georgia. He graduated from UGA with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After two years in the U.S. Army, he attended the University of Tennessee School of Law.

Upon graduating law school, Marshall and his wife, Minta, moved to Amelia Island, where Marshall worked as in house counsel for The Amelia Company.  After working there for two years, Marshall went into private practice where he has remained since that time. On January 18, 1995, Marshall opened Marshall E. Wood, P.A., a law firm that is now known as Wood & Smith, P.A. Marshall handles real estate matters and corporate formations as well as will and trust preparation and matters of probate.

Marshall and Minta have three daughters and 7 grandchildren, and love traveling near and far, both to visit their family located throughout Florida and to experience new and unique places.

Amanda Smith was born and raised in Jacksonville, and spent much of her childhood in and around Amelia Island as her father has operated a CPA firm on Centre Street for more than 30 years. Amanda graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a degree in Finance. She then moved to Washington, D.C. for law school at Georgetown University.

After graduating cum laude from Georgetown, Amanda moved back to Jacksonville to join Rogers Towers, P.A. She remained with Rogers Towers for five years, during which time she also obtained a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Florida, graduating with a Concentration in Real Estate and Urban Analysis.

In January of 2014, Amanda joined Marshall Wood’s office, where she handles residential and commercial real estate matters as well as title work and corporate formations.

Amanda and her husband, Nick, live in Jacksonville with their children, Henry, Fletcher & Leyna, and enjoy spending holidays and weekends on Amelia Island with their family.

Nicholas F. Smith is a native of Sanford, Florida, where he lived for most of his childhood prior to attending the University of Florida. At UF, Nick graduated cum laude with a criminology degree in 2005 and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Following graduation, Nick attended the Florida State University College of Law, graduating cum laude in 2009 and earning membership in the Order of the Coif.  He remains, however, a dedicated Gator fan.

From 2009 through 2016, Nick served as an active duty member of the United States Navy JAG Corps. His assignments included Jacksonville, Florida; Great Lakes, Illinois; and a deployment to Afghanistan. During his time on active duty, Nick defended Navy sailors, provided legal assistance to military families and represented the legal interests of crime victims.

In early 2016, Nick joined the practice with Marshall and his wife, Amanda. His practice focuses on residential title transactions and corporate formation. He continues to serve as a reserve member of the JAG Corps and, together with his family, is an active member of his local Catholic parish.
